Peter S. Stamatis is an active trial attorney with nearly two decades of extensive experience handling civil and criminal trial and appellate work in the State and Federal courts of Illinois. Peter has represented a wide range of clients on both the plaintiff and defense sides of litigation. He defends professionals before regulatory boards and participates in arbitrations and mediations.

Peter graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana in 1990 with degrees in political science and speech communications. Three years later, he graduated from the Chicago-Kent College of Law where he was a member of the school’s Moot Court Society. While in both college and law school, Peter earned various scholarships and awards for academic and extracurricular achievement. In 1993, Peter was admitted to practice in the Illinois state courts and the Federal Court for the Northern District of Illinois. That same year, he began his professional career with a litigation law firm where he defended professional liability matters. Peter is also licensed to practice before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

In early 1996, Peter founded the Law Offices of Peter S. Stamatis, P.C. Shortly thereafter, he became of-counsel to Michael W. Coffield and had the privilege of working with and learning at the feet of the master for nearly a decade. For over a decade and a half, Peter has tried countless cases and has prosecuted and defended almost all natures of matters including those for antitrust, consumer fraud, breach of contract, accounting, probate, class action, business torts, executive compensation, partnership disputes, commodities, civil rights, real estate, lender liability, product liability, toxic torts, defamation, trade secrets, patent, trademark, copyright, professional liability, and most other significant commercial issues.

Peter is a featured opinion writer for the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin newspaper and is a sought-after speaker. He serves as a Master of the Bench in the Chicago Inn of Court, is the vice-president of the Chicago Hellenic Bar Association, served as president of the parish counsel of his church, and volunteers in the community. In the late 1990’s, Peter co-hosted a popular weekly radio sports talk show. Mr. Stamatis recently completed his first book, Dandelions for Dinner, the true story of his father’s survival of World War II.
